Since ancient times, all creatures on earth have lived in harmony in accordance with the law of nature. Grasses, trees and even little bugs have their roles to play in the circle of life. We humans are no exception. Nagasaki Bio Park is an animal park that offers visitors opportunities to learn about the harmony of nature through hands-on experiences.
As you tour the park, you will meet with various kinds of animals. Also, throughout the park, there are places where you can pet and hand-feed animals including lemurs, squirrel monkeys and capybaras. Especially exciting is hand-feeding large animals such as rhinos and hippos. It's an experience you cannot expect in every day life. Nagasaki Bio Park is a place you not only look animals but also touch and feel them.
In Nagasaki Bio Park, animals live in environments that are as close to their natural habitats as possible. Instead of putting animals in the cage that prevents them from escaping, Nagasaki Bio Park has created environments that are comfortable to animals. Our goal is to make them happy to be there.
We believe that stepping into such environments and sharing them with the animals will help you deepen your understanding about animals greatly. It also gives you opportunities to learn about the distance you should keep from animals and what you should be careful about when you pet them.
In an ecosystem, even plants and insects have roles to play: Grass is eaten by bugs, which are eaten by birds and small animals. And birds' and small animals' dung and carcasses are decomposed by insects and microorganism that live underground, providing nutrition to grass and trees.
In Flower Dome, you will see tropical butterflies flying over various kinds of beautiful flowers, which bloom in every season. In Insectarium, you can closely observe rare insects collected from all over the world. And in Cactus Rock Garden where various kinds of cactus grow all over the steep rock wall, you can also learn about history of plants that have changed the forms to adjust to the climate. We hope you learn about how nature works as a big cycle and recognize the importance of life as you enjoy yourselves!
